Aori Nevo, PhD nag-post nitoAccountability & Trackability in Engineering We have no shortage of data. Dashboards, logs, metrics, reports — we can slice and dice endlessly across platforms. But at the end of the day, the questions we’re trying to answer are simple: Are we on track? Who can help move this forward? The answers can take many forms. The implementation isn’t the point. Yes, there are better and worse tools — and sure, Excel might give some of us the ick — but if it gets the job done, no judgment. What matters is clarity of ownership and visibility into progress. Stay focused on the outcomes. Keep the paths to get there flexible. You might be surprised where that leads — often to simpler, more effective solutions than the ones you started with. #EngineeringLeadership #Accountability #Execution #SoftwareEngineering #Delivery

Aori Nevo, PhD nag-repost nitoAori Nevo, PhD nag-repost nitoEngineering leadership is changing fast. If AI is reshaping how software is planned, built, reviewed, and shipped, leaders cannot remain purely managerial. You do not need to be the best dev on the team... but you do need enough hands-on time with these tools to understand where the leverage is, where the risks are, and how your org should adapt. The process many of us built our careers on is not disappearing... but it is changing quickly. Ticket refinement, implementation, code review, documentation, and team coordination all look different when AI is in the loop. That is why I still carve out time to build… partly because I enjoy it, but also because ivory tower engineering leaders get left behind, and eventually their teams do too.

Aori Nevo, PhD nag-share nito🚧 Refreshing a 10-Year-Old WordPress Plugin 🚧 About a decade ago I built a WordPress plugin called AN_GradeBook — a simple gradebook that lets educators manage students, courses, assignments, and share grades directly from WordPress. https://lnkd.in/eQffYbUu Like many side projects, it worked… and then life and other projects happened. The plugin sat largely untouched for years. Recently I decided to dust it off. Refreshing an old codebase is always an interesting experience. You get to see how your thinking as an engineer has evolved — architecture decisions you’d make differently today, security practices that are now standard, and tooling that simply didn’t exist when the project started — ehm, Claude. This refresh has involved: • modernizing parts of the plugin • tightening security and escaping practices • cleaning up old assumptions from earlier WordPress versions • revisiting the developer experience around the codebase It’s a reminder that software is rarely “finished.” Even small tools can have long lives — and occasionally deserve a second look. There’s something uniquely satisfying about bringing an old project back to life. #WordPress #OpenSource #SoftwareEngineering #SideProjects #TechDebt #BuildInPublic

Aori Nevo, PhD nagustuhan ito.NET 9 EOL is coming up this calendar year, folks. Andrew Stakhov and team have been working hard with one of our financial services partners testing the application of a broad set of .NET migration recipes we're making available in the first tranche. Moderne will be continuing to offer recipes for all subsequent .NET major version EOLs which are now scheduled to happen EVERY YEAR. We were able to develop so many recipes thanks to a boost from agentic recipe authorship and testing so that when you're ready to actually do the change, you're doing so from a deterministic foundation that doesn't get lazy and skip over parts of the code or misapply the pattern in some places but not others. Agent -> Deterministic Machine -> Outcome. This is the way.Aori Nevo, PhD nagustuhan itoExcited to share Moderne now supports C# and .NET.🙌 We’re launching with nearly 700 ready-to-run recipes on day one, so you can: 🏃➡️Migrate to .NET 10 across your entire portfolio in a single run ✅ Automatically remediate code quality issues across hundreds of repos 🔗 Manage NuGet dependencies at scale 📈 Migrate from xUnit to TUnit Our partners at Billtrust put it best: “Migrating hundreds of .NET repositories to .NET 10 would have cost us hundreds of engineering hours. With Moderne, we did it at a scale and speed that simply wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. Moderne delivered exactly what we needed to move fast without sacrificing code quality or engineering rigor.” Read the full release: https://lnkd.in/ggkgu8GA #CSharp #DotNet #SoftwareEngineering #DevTools

Aori Nevo, PhD nagustuhan itoAori Nevo, PhD nagustuhan itoEvery product tells a story. Not just through the features it offers, but through the experience it creates for the people who use it. As product managers, we are constantly shaping that story through the decisions we make, the priorities we set, and the problems we choose to solve. When teams are aligned, the story is cohesive. The experience feels intentional. The customer journey makes sense. When teams are misaligned, the cracks show quickly. Disconnected priorities, fragmented decisions, and siloed thinking can create experiences that feel confusing, inconsistent, or incomplete for the very customers we aim to serve. And perhaps most importantly, if accessibility is not part of the story from the beginning, we risk building products that exclude the very people we claim to support. Accessibility is not an enhancement. It is not a final checkpoint. It is not optional. It is a fundamental part of thoughtful product design and responsible product leadership. The stories product managers tell are not just the narratives we share in roadmaps or strategy decks. They are the experiences customers live every time they interact with what we build. Our responsibility is to ensure those stories are coherent, inclusive, and worthy of the people for whom they are written. #ProductManagement #Accessibility #CustomerExperience #ProductLeadership #InclusiveDesign #UX

Aori Nevo, PhD nagustuhan itoAori Nevo, PhD nagustuhan itoOne of the reasons I am so passionate about product management is that it allows me to draw directly from the strongest elements of my academic background, particularly the analytical and storytelling foundations shaped by cinema studies. To practice product management holistically, you must think like a strategist, communicate like a storyteller, analyze like a researcher, collaborate like an operator, and advocate like a leader. In many ways, it mirrors teaching and skillful facilitation in academia. The strongest educators do more than deliver content. They synthesize ideas across disciplines, connect theory to practice, and help others make meaning from complexity. Most importantly, they never give up. They remain steadfast in their commitment to the learners they serve. Product management requires that same interdisciplinary mindset. It draws from: 📈 Business strategy 🧭 User experience and design 💻 Technology and systems thinking 📊 Research and analytics 📝 Communication and organizational leadership At its core, product management is not simply about building products. It is about integrating perspectives, translating across domains, and creating alignment among people with different expertise and priorities. That is what makes the discipline both challenging and deeply rewarding. The best product leaders, much like the best educators, are not merely subject matter experts. They are interdisciplinary thinkers who help others see connections, navigate complexity, and move toward shared understanding. Product management is not just a business function. It is applied interdisciplinary leadership. #ProductManagement #ProductLeadership #HigherEducation #Interdisciplinary #Leadership #TeachingAndLearning

A simple 3‑step workflow to turn a prompt into a reliable team tool. ⚙️ Step 1 — Define the exact output. Don’t say “help me summarize.” Say: “Return a 5‑line customer reply in JSON with keys: tone, body, follow_up.” Make success binary. If it parses, it passes. Step 2 — Build the prompt skeleton. System role + one clear instruction + one example output. Include constraints: max tokens, required fields, and a failure token (e.g., "ERROR: MISSING_FIELD"). Short examples prevent ambiguity. Step 3 — Break it with MAIA. Feed messy inputs: missing fields, conflicting tones, truncated text. Ask MAIA to show failure cases and suggest guardrails. Iterate until the output either parses or returns the failure token cleanly. Why this matters: professionals ship when outputs are testable. A prompt that either produces valid JSON or a clear error is easy to automate, review, and debug. That’s faster than vague instructions or long feature demos. Try this in a 5–7 minute microblock: pick one recurring task, define the schema, write the skeleton prompt, then run three messy tests with MAIA. What’s the single prompt you could stress‑test with messy inputs this week? #AI #Learning #Microlearning #EdTech #Rebundle

🚀 NgRx 21 — 10 Years of State Management, Now Signals-First NgRx 21 celebrates a decade of NgRx while taking a big step toward Angular’s Signals-based future with the introduction of @ngrx/signals/events. 🔍 What’s technically significant in NgRx 21? 🧩 @ngrx/signals/events A new primitive focused on event-driven architecture using Angular Signals: • Explicit event modeling instead of action overload • Clear separation of events → side effects → state updates • Reduced boilerplate compared to traditional Actions + Effects • Fine-grained reactivity with Signals (no unnecessary stream emissions) This makes complex flows easier to reason about while keeping NgRx’s core principles intact. ⸻ ⚡ Signals-First Reactive Model • Moves away from RxJS-heavy patterns where they aren’t required • Enables synchronous, predictable state transitions • Better performance via fine-grained dependency tracking • Ideal for modern Angular apps using signal(), computed(), and effect() ⸻ 🧠 Improved Architecture & DX • Cleaner APIs across NgRx packages • More composable building blocks • Easier onboarding for teams new to NgRx • Stronger alignment with Angular’s recommended direction ⸻ 🏗️ Why this matters for real-world apps For large-scale Angular applications: • Less cognitive overhead in complex workflows • More maintainable state and side-effect management • Better testability (events and state updates are easier to isolate) • Smooth migration path from classic NgRx to Signals-based patterns NgRx 21 proves that enterprise-grade state management doesn’t have to be verbose — and that Signals can coexist cleanly with proven NgRx patterns.
