Things can get hairy in a rousing game of Goritaire. This ingenious twist on solitaire challenges you to grow a gang of gorillas while ensuring they don’t go hungry. With only two types of cards—gorillas and bananas—that sounds easy, but as you draw cards and arrange your primates into a pyramid, you’ll need to figure out how to keep them all fed.
What we love: The evolving complexity. Early in the game you’ve got just four actions to choose from, but later stages unlock up to 20. Eventually you’ll be able to peek at the top card in the draw deck or cook bananas to double their output. Banana soufflé, anyone?
Quick tip: Stick those bananas in the ground! Planting bananas creates a permanent food source that doesn’t get consumed each turn.
Meet the creator: Goritaire is the digital version of the tabletop game designed and illustrated by Pawn, maker of the hit solo card game Shephy. Arc System Works, best known for the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue fighting-game franchises, handled this mobile adaptation.
