Medical device industry in Japan - statistics & facts
Japan was the fourth-largest producer of medical technology in terms of revenue, following behind the United States, China, and Germany. Therapeutic equipment and devices were the medical devices with the highest sales share in Japan, both for domestic products and imports. As the country's population has rapidly aged, the domestic demand for medical devices has also steadily increased. Accordingly, there is a growing demand for devices that can help improve the quality of life of the elderly population such as mobility aids, home healthcare devices, and assistive technologies.
