Updates

  • May is National Foster Care Month, a time to recognize the many ways children and families are supported through foster care and adoption 💙 On Friday, Joanne and Paula were honored to attend the celebration of Adelphoi's 50th anniversary of providing foster care services and 25th anniversary of providing adoption services at The Pavilion at the Pond. While every child’s journey is different, some of the children we serve may benefit from foster care as part of their path to safety and stability. We are grateful to work alongside partners like Adelphoi who help ensure those children have the care and support they need. Together, this work creates stronger futures for children and families in our community. . . . #FosterCareMonth #ChildAdvocacy #CommunityPartners #StrongerTogether

  • Because of you, March was a month of meaningful impact at Children’s House Child Advocacy Center. 🏡 Your support made it possible for children to receive: -Forensic interviews in a safe, child-friendly environment where their voices are heard. -Advocacy every step of the way, ensuring they and their families are supported -Medical exams that prioritize their health, safety, and well-being -Therapy sessions that begin the journey toward healing And beyond these services, you helped make possible the review and coordination of many additional cases, moments where timely collaboration and care made all the difference. Each of these represents a child who didn’t have to face their situation alone, because you showed up for them. Thank you for being part of the work of hope and healing. www.chcac.org . . . #ChildAdvocacy #ChildrensHouseCAC #CommunityImpact #HopeAndHealing

  • We are proud to celebrate Brittney and her 10-year milestone in forensic interviewing. While Brittney may not be conducting interviews day to day in her current role at CHCAC, her decade of experience continues to shape our work in meaningful ways. From supporting multidisciplinary teams to strengthening how we serve children and families, her impact reaches far beyond the interview room. We’re grateful to have her as part of The Children’s House and to share in this milestone. 💙 🏠

Ten years ago, I became a forensic interviewer. I still remember my first interview. Focusing on the protocol. Thinking carefully about my question types. Following the structure. Making sure I did everything “right.” What I’ve learned over the last decade is that forensic interviewing is far more than a protocol. It is sitting quietly while a child decides whether they trust you enough to speak. It is understanding that the words shared in that room may shape an investigation, a court case, and a child’s path toward healing. It is carrying the responsibility of listening carefully, asking thoughtfully, and protecting the integrity of a child’s experience. It is also holding space for things no child should have to describe, and doing so in a way that prioritizes their safety, dignity, and voice. Over the last ten years, I’ve had the privilege of doing this work alongside incredible multidisciplinary teams and Child Advocacy Centers across the country. The work is complex and challenging, but it matters in ways that are hard to put into words. This work has taught me that children are incredibly resilient, that compassion and structure can exist in the same space, and that sometimes the most important thing we can offer is simply the safety to be heard. It has also allowed me to train, mentor, and support others entering the field, something that continues to inspire me every day. Every child who walks into a CAC deserves a place where their voice can be heard safely, respectfully, and without pressure. Ten years in, I’m still honored every time I sit in that chair and deeply committed to work that protects children and supports their path toward healing. . . . #ForensicInterviewer #ChildAdvocacy #CACMovement #ProtectKids #10Years

  • 🎙️ Tomorrow morning, Brittney is calling in to join Pat on the Choice 102, WAVR Morning Show to talk about Dine to Donate: Cooking for Kids! 💙 Throughout April, local businesses are partnering with The Children’s House to support children and families impacted by abuse and other crimes against children in our community. These partnerships make it possible for us to provide advocacy, forensic interviews, therapy, and coordinated care, all at no cost to those we serve. Last year, 159 children walked through our doors, each with a story that deserved to be heard and supported. When you choose to dine out this month, you’re helping make that support possible. 🍽️ View participating locations and dates: 👉 https://lnkd.in/gmrR2EVk Prevention starts with connection. • As we continue boosting awareness for Child Abuse Prevention Month, we wanted to offer a reminder that protecting children starts before harm occurs. While The Children’s House is here when abuse is reported, we’re just as committed to prevention. Through education, outreach, and community partnerships, we work to reduce risk, raise awareness, and strengthen protective behaviors for kids and the adults who care for them. Our prevention programs are available to youth, caregivers, professionals, and community organizations across our service area, and can be tailored to meet your needs. 🔗 chcac.org/education
